on getting my camera
it’s a funny story. last night, i was checking DHL tracking on when my brand new digital SLR camera would arrive — which was for the next day. alas, i fell asleep around 4am… i woke up at 1:07pm, and checked tracking — it said “With delivery courier. Riverside, CA” and then that was when i noticed my mom’s note beside my laptop - it said that she was out taking the elderly guy to the doctor’s.
and wont be back till 5pm.
i was like, oh no, and checked the door… and for sure, there’s a waybill saying i missed the delivery (it needed a signature). naturally, no one was here to wake me up. i was walking back to my room fuming at my mom since she didnt let me know she would be gone until i realized the waybill was signed and posted at 12:55pm.
i ran into my room, changed out of my pj’s, grabbed my jacket, and ran out of the door and grabbed my bike out of the garage. i rode the few blocks into town and started looking for the signature yellow/red van/truck. i knew it was lunchtime, and 99% of the delivery guys always take a break in the Village (which is what we call our town).
so i started looking for the truck and the guy, i didn’t see him. so i went up to the first level, saw a flash of yellow and red out of my peripheral vision walking out of the pharmacy (must’ve made a delivery) while i was heading home. i slammed on the brakes, and did a sudden turn and said “hey.” he was looking at me, confused. i grabbed the waybill out of my pocket and showed it to him, and then pointed to my ears, saying i was deaf. he was like, “uhhhhh, yeah. follow.” so we went down to the parking lot on level 2… went in his truck, grabbed the package.
i signed for it, and i had the camera!
